Todays poem is from the great modernist poet William Carlos Williams, friend of the great Ezra Pound. This is the second of our series of poets this week beginning with "W" - and this piece represents his most famous poem -- and a delightfully simple one at that!
I wonder if his wife was angry.
Enjoy!
This Is Just To Say
by William Carlos Williams
I have eaten
the plums
that were in
the icebox
and which
you were probably
saving
for breakfast
Forgive me
they were delicious
so sweet
and so cold
