Billy Childish is a British pop icon an enigma of sorts - certainly a rare breed. A musician, a fine artist, and a renowned British poet, Childish is worth researching.
He's a fascinating character. This famous poem by Childish "and all their dreams came true" was suggested by our UK correspondent in the Brighton area, Mike Strevens.
Thanks Mike.
and all their dreams came true
By Billy Childish.
we were the last kids to still have
brillcreamed hair
wear shorts to skool
and be beaten with sticks
and
our parents dreamed of a
new world
of more
more
cars
tvs
sweet wrappers
shopping centers
airports
cut-price meals
cheep booze
and limitless
dislocation
and whats worse
is
all their dreams came true
